✧ A man used to lead them in prayer at Quba. Whenever he wanted to start a surah to recite, he would recite 'Say: He is Allah, the One,' then recite the surah. He did that in all his prayers. His companions said to him: 'Will you not leave this surah, or recite "Say: He is Allah, the One" and then leave it?' He said to them: 'I will not leave it. If you like me to lead you in prayer with that, I will do so; otherwise, no.' He was one of the best of them, and they disliked that anyone other than him should lead them. They came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and said: 'O so-and-so, what prevents you from doing what your companions ask of you? And what makes you cling to this surah?' He said: 'I love it, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Your love of it will admit you to Paradise.'
