✧ “My ummah will not be tried until there appear among them tamāyuz, tamāyul, and maqāmiʿ.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is tamāyuz?” He said, “Tamāyuz is a tribal zeal that people will introduce after me in Islam.” I said, “Then what is tamāyul?” He said, “A tribe will incline against another tribe and regard its sanctity as violable.” I said, “Then what are maqāmiʿ?” He said, “The march of the garrisons against one another; their necks will clash in war.”
