حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ الْقَاضِي بِبَغْدَادَ ثَنَا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ السُّلَمِيُّ ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ ذِي عَصْوَانَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّكْسَكِيِّ عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وُقُوفٌ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا مُدَّةُ رَجَاءِ أُمَّتِكَ؟ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى سَأَلَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ وَلَّى الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ سَأَلْتَنِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ مَا سَأَلَنِي عَنْهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي رَجَاءُ أُمَّتِي مِائَةُ سَنَةٍ» قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَهَلْ لِتِلْكَ مِنْ أَمَارَةٍ أَوْ آيَةٍ أَوْ عَلَامَةٍ قَالَ «نَعَمْ الْقَذْفُ وَالْخَسْفُ وَالرَّجْفُ وَإِرْسَالُ الشَّيَاطِينِ الْمُلْجَمَةِ عَنِ النَّاسِ»

✧ While we were standing with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the duration of hope for your Ummah?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent until he asked three times, then the man turned away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'You have asked me about something no one from my Ummah has asked me. The hope of my Ummah is a hundred years.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there any sign, verse, or mark for that?' He said: 'Yes: peltings, sinkings, earthquakes, and the sending of bridled devils upon the people.'
