✧ From Umm al-Mundhir al-Ansariyyah, who was one of the maternal aunts of the Prophet ﷺ. She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me, and with him was Ali, who was recovering from an illness. In the house there was a hanging bunch of dates. The Prophet ﷺ stood up and took some of it, and he turned to Ali who was also taking some of it. He said: 'Leave it, for it does not suit you, as you are recovering.' So I got up and prepared barley and chard, and it was cooked. I brought it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Ali, eat of this, for it is more suitable for you.' Zayd b. al-Hubab narrated it from Fulayh b. Sulayman, and he said: from Umm Mubashshir al-Ansariyyah.

machine translationMuḥammad b. Abī Yaḥyā is Muḥammad b. Fulayḥ, and this hadith is well known from the narration of Fulayḥ. I used to think that he was Muḥammad b. Abī Yaḥyā al-Aslamī, Abū Ibrāhīm b. Abī Yaḥyā, so I put it to Abū Zurʿah, but he did not recognise it as a hadith of Muḥammad b. Abī Yaḥyā. He kept expressing astonishment, and the matter was confusing to him, just as it was confusing to me, until now I have established that he is Fulayḥ, who is given the kunya Abū Yaḥyā.
