✧ "The most enviable of people in my sight is a believer light of means, with a share of prayer, who worships Allah excellently and obeys Him in secret, obscure among the people, not pointed at with fingers, whose provision is barely sufficient, and who bears that patiently." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shook his finger and said, "His death comes quickly, his mourners are few, and his inheritance is little."

machine translationWhen these men come together in a chain of transmission, that hadith is the product of their own hands. It seems he relied on the statement of Abū Mushir about ʿAlī and that of al-Bukhārī about Ibn Zaḥr, and God knows best. By this statement he means two men: ʿUthmān b. Abī al-ʿĀtikah and ʿAlī b. Yazīd.
