✧ Umm Salama said: I wanted to speak to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ask him to command the people to send him gifts wherever he was, for the people sought to send their gifts on 'A'isha's day, and we too love good as 'A'isha loves it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent and did not answer me. My female companions came to me, and I informed them that he ﷺ did not speak to me. They said, 'By Allah, do not leave him, and this is not the time to leave him.' She said: He came around, and I spoke to him. I said, 'My female companions told me to speak to you, asking you to command the people to send you gifts wherever you are.' I said to him the same statement two or three times, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent each time. Then he said, 'O Umm Salama, do not harm me regarding 'A'isha, for by Allah, revelation has not descended upon me while I was in the garment of any of my wives except 'A'isha.' She said: I said, 'I seek refuge in Allah from displeasing you regarding 'A'isha.'
