أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا خَلِيفَةُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ قَالَ
«عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَسَةَ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ غَاضِرَةَ بْنِ عَتَّابِ بْنِ امْرِئِ الْقَيْسِ أُمُّهُ رَمْلَةُ بِنْتُ الْوَقِيعَةَ مِنْ بَنِي حِزَامٍ وَهُوَ أَخُو أَبِي ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيِّ لِأُمِّهِ مِنْ سَاكِنِي الشَّامِ يُكَنَّى أَبَا يَحْيَى»

✧ 'Amr b. 'Abasah b. 'Amir b. Khalid b. Ghadirah b. 'Attab b. Imri' al-Qays, whose mother was Ramlah bt. al-Waqi'ah from Banu Hizam. He was the maternal half-brother of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, one of the inhabitants of Syria, and his kunyah was Abu Yahya.
