حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَرْبِيُّ قَالَ

«كَانَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِلْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَ الْعَبَّاسُ وَهَبَهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ أَسْلَمَ وَيُقَالُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَأَسْلَمَ قَبْلَ بَدْرٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ مُقِيمًا بِمَكَّةَ مَعَ الْعَبَّاسِ وَمَاتَ بَعْدَ قَتْلِ عُثْمَانَ سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ»

Translation

✧ Abu Rafi' was a freedman of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, belonging to al-'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib. When al-'Abbas embraced Islam, he gave him to the Prophet ﷺ. His name was Aslam, and it is also said Ibrahim. He embraced Islam before Badr, but he was residing in Makkah with al-'Abbas. He died after the killing of 'Uthman in the year thirty-five.
