✧ Muhammad the Prophet was the most beloved of people to me in the pre-Islamic era. When he became a prophet and went out to Madinah, Hakim b. Hizam went out to the market of 'Ukaz and found a suit of clothing belonging to Dhu Yazan being sold for fifty dirhams. He bought it to give as a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He brought it to him and wanted him to accept it, but he refused. 'Ubayd Allah said: I think he said, 'We do not accept anything from the polytheists, but we will take it for a price.' So I sold it to him until he came to Madinah. He wore it, and I saw it on him on the pulpit. I never saw anything more beautiful than him in it that day. Then he gave it to Usamah b. Zayd. Hakim saw it on Usamah and said, 'O Usamah, are you wearing the suit of Dhu Yazan?' He said, 'Yes, for I am better than Dhu Yazan, and my father is better than his father, and my mother is better than his mother.' Hakim said, 'So I went to Makkah and amazed them with Usamah's words.'
