حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ مُعَاذِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا كَانَ لَيَالِي بَعْثِ حُجْرٍ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ جَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَتَحَيَّرُونَ وَيَقُولُونَ مَا فَعَلَ حُجْرٌ؟ فَأَتَى خَبَرُهُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ مُخْتَبِئٌ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَطْلَقَ حَبْوَتَهُ وَوَثَبَ وَانْطَلَقَ فَجَعَلْتُ أَسْمَعُ نَحِيبَهُ وَهُوَ مُوَلٍّ

✧ When it was the nights of Hujr's dispatch to Mu'awiya, the people began to be bewildered and say, 'What has Hujr done?' News of him reached Ibn 'Umar while he was hiding in the market, so he loosened his garment and jumped up and departed, and I began to hear his weeping as he turned away.
