حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ
فُتِحَتْ مِصْرُ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ وَفِيهَا كَانَ فَتْحُ الْفُرَاتِ عَنْوَةً وَقِيلَ افْتَتَحَهَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ وَكَانَ اسْتَخْلَفَهُ عُتْبَةُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ وَتَوَجَّهَ إِلَى عُمَرَ وَأَمَّرَ عُمَرُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ عَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ وَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ بَعْدَهُ فَكَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ وَأَمْرِ أُمِّ جَمِيلٍ الْقَيْسِيَّةِ مَا كَانَ
Translation

✧ Egypt was conquered in the year twenty, and in it the Euphrates was conquered by force. It was said that al-Mughira b. Shuba conquered it, and Utba b. Ghazwan had left him as his deputy and gone to Umar. Umar appointed al-Mughira b. Shuba over Basra and wrote to him after that. Then what happened between him and Umm Jamil al-Qaysiyya happened.
