✧ I went out in the funeral procession of 'Abd al-Rahman b. Samura, and Ziyad was walking in front of the bier. Some men from his freedmen started walking on their heels in front of the bier, saying: 'Slowly, slowly, may Allah bless you.' He said: Abu Bakra caught up with us on part of the road to al-Mirbad. When he saw those people and what they were doing, he charged at them forcefully and raised his whip towards them, saying: "Make way! By the One who honored the face of Abu al-Qasim ﷺ, I saw us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when we would almost trot with it (the bier) at a quick pace."
