✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, and he went out among Ghatafan. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Who will deal with Ibn al-Ashraf for me? He has harmed Allah and His Messenger.' Muhammad b. Maslamah al-Harithi said: I will, O Messenger of Allah. Would you like me to kill him? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent. Then he said: 'Go to Sa'd b. Mu'adh and consult him.' He said: I went to Sa'd b. Mu'adh and mentioned that to him. He said: Proceed with the blessing of Allah, and take with you my nephew al-Harith b. Aws b. Mu'adh, 'Abbad b. Bishr al-Ash-hali, Abu 'Abs b. Jabr al-Harithi, and Abu Na'il Silkan b. Qays al-Ash-hali. He said: I met them and mentioned that to them. They all came to me except Silkan. He said: O nephew, you are believed by me, but I do not like to do anything of that until I speak directly with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So that was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'Proceed with your companions.' He said: We went out to him at night until we came to him in a fortress. 'Abbad b. Bishr said poetry about that, explaining in verse their killing and their course. He said: [Wafir meter] I called out to him, but he paid no heed to my voice, and he appeared, emerging from above a wall. I called to him again, and he said: 'Who is the caller?' I said: 'Your brother 'Abbad b. Bishr, and this is our armor as a pledge, so take it for two months, fulfilled, or half a month.' He said: 'People who are hungry and starving, yet they have never lacked wealth without poverty.' He came toward us descending quickly and said to us: 'You have certainly come for some matter.' In our right hands were white, sharp swords, tested, with which we cauterize and cut. I said to my companion when he appeared to me, as the swords rushed upon him like the slaughter of a donkey: Ibn Maslamah al-Muradi embraced him, shouting over him like a mighty lion. He struck with his sword, unsheathed, upon him, and Abu 'Abs b. Jabr made him fall in drops. Allah was our sixth, a guardian, with the best blessing and the mightiest victory. And a noble group brought his head, to whom came guidance from truth and righteousness. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
