✧ 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah, a man from Banu 'Adi ibn Ka'b, saw Sahl ibn Hunaif with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bathing at al-Kharrar and said, "By Allah, I have never seen anything like today, nor the skin of a hidden maiden." Sahl fell down and collapsed. It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, can you do anything for Sahl ibn Hunaif?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah, became angry with him, and said, "Why would one of you kill his brother or his companion? Why does he not invoke blessing? Bathe for him." So 'Amir bathed for him, and Sahl recovered with no harm. And the washing: a vessel with water is brought, he inserts both hands into the vessel, pours water from the vessel over his face, then washes his right hand in it, rinses his mouth into the vessel, inserts his hand to wash his back, then takes water with his left hand and does the same, then washes his chest in the vessel, then washes his right knee and fingertips in the vessel, does the same with the left leg, reaches inside his waist-wrapper, then covers the vessel before placing it on the ground, scoops water from it with his hand, rinses his mouth, pours it over his face, then pours it over his head, and then throws the vessel behind him.
