machine translationThis ḥadīth is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) from the narration of Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr from ʿIyāḍ b. Hilāl al-Anṣārī. The two [Shaykhs] left it out only because of a disagreement among the students of Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr about it: some of them said Hilāl b. ʿIyāḍ. Abū ʿAbdillāh Muḥammad b. Ismāʿīl [al-Bukhārī] ruled in al-Tārīkh that he is ʿIyāḍ b. Hilāl al-Anṣārī, who heard Abū Saʿīd, and Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr heard from him. This was said by Hishām, Maʿmar, ʿAlī b. al-Mubārak and Ḥarb b. Shaddād from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr. I heard ʿAlī b. Ḥamshādh say: I heard Mūsā b. Hārūn say: al-Awzāʿī narrated it twice, and once he said: from Yaḥyā, from Hilāl b. ʿIyāḍ. Muḥammad b. al-Ṣabbāḥ also narrated it to us: al-Walīd narrated to us, from al-Awzāʿī, from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, as a mursal report. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī used to narrate it from ʿIyāḍ b. Hilāl, then he doubted it and said: or Hilāl b. ʿIyāḍ. It was narrated from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī by ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī, ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar al-Qawārīrī and Muḥammad b. al-Muthannā, and they agreed on ʿIyāḍ b. Hilāl, and this is the correct one. Al-Ḥākim said: "Two of our imams, such as al-Bukhārī and Mūsā b. Hārūn, have ruled it authentic, because of the statement of whoever established this chain from ʿIyāḍ b. Hilāl al-Anṣārī. Al-Bukhārī mentioned corroborating reports for it, so the ḥadīth is authentic through it. Muslim has also reported the meaning of this ḥadīth."

وأشبهها بالصواب حديث عياض بن هلال عن أبي سعيد
machine translationThe most likely of them to be correct is the ḥadīth of ʿIyāḍ b. Hilāl from Abū Saʿīd.
in المستدرك على الصحيحين, p. 563 - Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī
الصحيح هذا يعني حديث الأوزاعي وحديث عكرمة وهم
machine translationThe correct one is this, meaning the ḥadīth of al-Awzāʿī, and the ḥadīth of ʿIkrimah is an error.
