✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding this verse: {In it are men who love to purify themselves, and Allah loves those who purify themselves} [al-Tawbah 108]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O assembly of the Ansar, Allah has praised you well concerning purification. So what is this purification of yours?” They said: O Messenger of Allah, we perform ablution for prayer and wash from major impurity. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Is there anything else besides that?” They said: No, except that when one of us comes out from defecation, he likes to cleanse himself with water. He said: “That is it.”

machine translationThis is a major authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith in the Book of Purification. Muḥammad b. Shuʿayb b. Shābūr and ʿUtbah b. Abī Ḥakīm are among the leading authorities of the people of Syria, and the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) only took the core of the narrations, and a hadith like this is not to be left aside. Ibrāhīm b. Yaʿqūb said: Muḥammad b. Shuʿayb is the most knowledgeable of people regarding the hadith of the Syrians. It also has a supporting report (shāhid) with a sound chain. Authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).
