حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْمَهْرَجَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَادَةُ بْنُ نُسَيٍّ عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ شُغِلَ فَإِذَا قَدِمَ الرَّجُلُ وَقَدْ أَسْلَمَ عَلَى يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَفَعَهُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَّا لِيُعَلِّمَهُ الْقُرْآنَ فَدَفَعَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا كَانَ مَعِي فِي الْبَيْتِ وَكُنْتُ أَقْرَأْتُهُ الْقُرْآنَ فَرَأَى أَنَّ لِي عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فَأَهْدَى إِلَيَّ قَوْسًا مَا رَأَيْتُ أَجْوَدَ مِنْهَا وَلَا أَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا عِطَافًا فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ مَا تَرَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فِيهَا فَقَالَ «جَمْرَةٌ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْكَ تَقَلَّدْتَهَا أَوْ تَعَلَّقْتَهَا»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was occupied. When a man arrived who had accepted Islam at the hands of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he would hand him over to one of us to teach him the Quran. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ handed over to me a man who stayed with me in the house, and I taught him the Quran. He saw that he owed me something, so he gifted me a bow, the like of which I have never seen better or more beautiful in its curve. I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "What do you think, O Messenger of Allah, about it?" He said, "A live coal between your shoulders which you have hung around your neck or attached to yourself."
