فَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ الشَّيْخُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ أَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي نُعَيْمٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ

«كَانَ اسْمِي فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ عَبْدَ عَمْرٍو فَسَمَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ»
