أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ ثَنَا أَبُو قِلَابَةَ ثَنَا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَخِيهِ الْبَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مُسْتَلْقٍ وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى يَتَغَنَّى فَنَهَاهُ فَقَالَ أَتَرْهَبُ أَنْ أَمُوتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِي وَقَدْ تَفَرَّدْتَ بِقَتْلِ مِائَةٍ مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ سِوَى مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِيهِ النَّاسُ؟

✧ He entered upon his brother al-Bara’ while he was lying on his back with one leg over the other, singing. He forbade him, and he said, “Do you fear that I might die on my bed when I have single-handedly killed a hundred disbelievers, besides those in whose killing others shared with me?”
