✧ I saw 'Uthman perform ablution: he washed his face, rinsed his nose, and rinsed his mouth three times; he wiped his head and his ears, their outer and inner parts; and he ran his fingers through his beard three times while washing his face before washing his feet. Then he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do what you have seen me do." The two Shaykhs agreed on transmitting channels for the hadith of 'Uthman regarding the completion of his ablution, but they did not mention in their narrations running the fingers through the beard three times. This is a sound chain; they have used all its narrators as proof except 'Amir b. Shaqiq, and I do not know of any criticism of 'Amir b. Shaqiq in any way. And for running the fingers through the beard, there is a sound witness from 'Ammar b. Yasir, Anas b. Malik, and 'A'ishah. Ibn Ma'in said: And it has a sound witness.
