حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ وَأَنَا سَأَلْتُهُ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ النَّسَائِيُّ ثنا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السُّلَمِيُّ ثنا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمًا لِقُرَيْشٍ «هَلْ فِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ؟» قَالُوا ابْنُ أُخْتِنَا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ ابْنَ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ» ذِكْرُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ غَرِيبٌ جِدًّا وَفَضَائِلُهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَهَذَا مِنْ أَجْلٍ فَضَائِلِهِ وَمَسَانِيدُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَزِيزَةٌ وَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ حَدِيثًا اسْتَغْرَبْنَاهُ جِدًّا فَأَنَا ذَاكِرَةٌ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنِ الْغَلَابِيُّ مِنْ شَرْطِ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ إسناده مظلم

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said one day to Quraysh: "Is there among you anyone from other than you?" They said: "The son of our sister, 'Utbah ibn Ghazwan." He said: "The son of a people's sister is one of them." The mention of 'Utbah ibn Ghazwan in this hadith is very rare, and his virtues are many. This is among his noblest virtues. The musnads of 'Utbah ibn Ghazwan from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ are scarce. We have written from that a hadith that we found very rare, so I will mention it, even though al-Ghallabi is not among the criteria of this book. Its chain is obscure.
