✧ Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi' ibn Abd al-Uzza ibn Abd Shams ibn Abd Manaf ibn Qusayy. Abu al-As's name was Miqsam, and his mother was Hala bint Khuwaylid ibn Asad ibn Abd al-Uzza ibn Qusayy. His maternal aunt was Khadija bint Khuwaylid, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ had married him to his daughter Zaynab before Islam. She bore him Ali and Umama. Ali died while young, and Umama remained until Ali ibn Abi Talib married her after the death of Fatima. Abu al-As was among those who witnessed Badr with the polytheists. He was captured by Abdullah ibn Jubayr ibn al-Nu'man al-Ansari. When the people of Makkah sent to ransom their captives, his brother Amr ibn al-Rabi' came to ransom Abu al-As with wealth that Zaynab had given him. I have mentioned previously what occurred between him and Zaynab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, until Zaynab was martyred. Now listen to the good outcome of Abu al-As and the excellence of his Islam and his migration to Madinah until he died in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
