أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ الْجَلَّابُ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا هِلَالٌ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ لَقِيَ عُمَرُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ فَقَالَ
أَنْتُمْ نِعْمَ الْقَوْمِ لَوْلَا أَنَّكُمْ سَبَقْتُمْ بِالْهِجْرَةِ فَنَحْنُ أَفْضَلُ مِنْكُمْ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَحْمِلُ رَاجِلَكُمْ وَيُعَلِّمُ جَاهِلَكُمْ فَفَرَرْنَا بِدِينِنَا فَقَالَتْ لَسْتُ بِرَاجِعَةٍ حَتَّى أَدْخُلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَقِيتُ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ بَلَى لَكُمْ هِجْرَتَانِ هِجْرَتُكُمْ إِلَى الْحَبَشَةِ وَهِجْرَتُكُمْ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ

✧ You are an excellent people, were it not that you preceded us in emigration, for we are more virtuous than you. We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; he carried your pedestrians and taught your ignorant, so we fled with our religion. She said: I will not return until I enter upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So I entered upon him, and she said: O Messenger of Allah, I met 'Umar, and he said such and such. He said: Rather, you have two emigrations: your emigration to Abyssinia and your emigration to Madinah.
