✧ virtues of Ja'far b. Abi Talib b. Abd al-Muttalib b. Hashim, who was martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah in the eighth year of Hijrah.

أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْإِمَامُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
«مَا احْتَذَى النِّعَالَ وَلَا انْتَعَلَ وَلَا رَكِبَ الْمَطَايَا وَلَا رَكِبَ الْكَوْرَ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ
