أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْمَدِينِيِّ وَذَكَرَ حَدِيثَ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ الَّذِي يَذْكُرُ فِيهِ سَمَاعَ عُرْوَةَ مِنْ بُسْرَةَ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ هَذَا مِمَّا يَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَنَّ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانَ قَدْ حَفِظَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مَرْوَانَ
عَنْ بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ وَقَدْ كَانَتْ صَحِبَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ» «فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عُرْوَةُ فَسَأَلَ بُسْرَةَ فَصَدَّقَتْهُ حَزْمٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ وَأَبُو الزِّنَادِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ وَأَبُو الْأَسْوَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ وَعَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ يَنَّاقٍ وَغَيْرِهِمْ مِنِ التَّابِعِينَ وَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ فَأَمَّا بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ سَيِّدَاتِ قُرَيْشٍ»

✧ From Busrah bt. Safwan, and she had been a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, she said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you touches his penis, let him not pray until he performs ablution." "Urwah denied that, so he asked Busrah, and she confirmed it to him: Hazm al-Ansari, Muhammad b. Muslim al-Zuhri, Abu al-Zinad 'Abdullah b. Dhakwan al-Qurashi, Muhammad b. 'Abdullah b. 'Urwah, Abu al-Aswad Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Nawfal al-Qurashi, 'Abd al-Hamid b. Ja'far al-Ansari, al-Hasan b. Muslim b. Yannaq, and others among the tabi'in and their followers. As for Busrah bt. Safwan, she is from the noble women of Quraysh."

machine translationEveryone who compiled a Ṣaḥīḥ mentioned the hadith of Busrah on this topic and the hadith of Ṭalq b. ʿAlī, except al-Bukhārī, for in his view the two conflict and are defective (maʿlūl), while in the view of others both are sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
