سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْقَارِيَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيَّ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ يَقُولُ «وَلِيَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ وَقُتِلَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ مُهَاجِرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً قُتِلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ لِلْحَادِي وَالْعِشْرِينَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ وَمَاتَ يَوْمَ الْأَحَدِ وَدُفِنَ بِالْكُوفَةِ» حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه

Translation

  1. Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm b. Ismāʿīl al-Qārī
  2. ʿUthmān b. Saʿīd al-Dārimī
  3. Abū Bakr b. Abū Shaybah

✧ I heard Abu Bakr b. Abi Shayba say: Ali b. Abi Talib governed for five years and was killed in the year forty of the Hijrah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he was sixty-three years old. He was killed on Friday, the twenty-first of the month of Ramadan, and he died on Sunday and was buried in Kufa. Al-Dhahabi omitted it from the Talkhis due to its weakness.
