حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي دَارِمٍ الْحَافِظُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ حَمَّادٍ الْمَرْثَدِيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ صَاحِبُ الْمُصَلَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا الْقَاسِمُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ

«قُتِلَ عَلِيٌّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ لِسَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً خَلَتْ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ وَكَانَتْ خِلَافَتُهُ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ إِلَّا ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْهُرٍ قَتَلَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُلْجَمٍ الْمُرَادِيُّ وَهُوَ يَوْمَ قُتِلَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعٍ وَسِتِّينَ» حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه

✧ Ali was killed on Friday, seventeen nights having passed of the month of Ramadan, in the year forty. His caliphate lasted five years except three months. Abd al-Rahman b. Muljam al-Muradi killed him. On the day he was killed, he was sixty-three or sixty-four years old. Al-Dhahabi omitted it from the Talkhis due to its weakness.
