حَدَّثَنِي بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَدَّادُ الصُّوفِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَبَلَةَ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ثنا أَبِي عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ قَالَ

كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ فَمَرَّ بِنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَلَمْ أَرَ هَاشِمِيًّا قَطُّ كَانَ أَعْبُدَ لِلَّهِ مِنْهُ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ وَقُمْنَا مَعَهُ فَسَلَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ لَهُ سَعِيدٌ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ أَسَدِ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ أُمِّ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يَقُولُ لَمَّا مَاتَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَسَدِ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ كَفَّنَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي قَمِيصِهِ وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهَا سَبْعِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَنَزَلَ فِي قَبْرِهَا فَجَعَلَ يَوْمِي فِي نَوَاحِي الْقَبْرِ كَأَنَّهُ يُوَسِّعُهُ وَيُسَوِّي عَلَيْهَا وَخَرَجَ مِنْ قَبْرِهَا وَعَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ وَحَثَا فِي قَبْرِهَا فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَيْتُكَ فَعَلْتَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةِ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَفْعَلْهُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ فَقَالَ «يَا عُمَرُ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةَ كَانَتْ أُمِّي الَّتِي وَلَدَتْنِي إِنَّ أَبَا طَالِبٍ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ الصَّنِيعَ وَتَكُونُ لَهُ الْمَأْدُبَةُ وَكَانَ يَجْمَعُنَا عَلَى طَعَامِهِ فَكَانَتْ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةُ تُفَضِّلُ مِنْهُ كُلِّهِ نَصِيبًا فَأَعُودُ فِيهِ وَإِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ رَبِّي ﷻ أَنَّهَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَخْبَرَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى أَمَرَ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَيْهَا»

✧ We were sitting with Sa'id b. al-Musayyib when Ali b. al-Husayn passed by us, and I have never seen a Hashimite more devoted to Allah than him. Sa'id b. al-Musayyib stood up to him, and we stood with him. We greeted him, and he returned our greeting. Sa'id said to him: O Abu Muhammad, tell us about Fatima bt. Asad b. Hashim, the mother of Ali b. Abi Talib. He said: Yes, my father told me; he said: I heard the Commander of the Faithful Ali b. Abi Talib say: When Fatima bt. Asad b. Hashim died, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shrouded her in his shirt, prayed over her, and said seventy takbirat over her. He descended into her grave and began gesturing in the corners of the grave as if widening it and leveling it for her. He came out of her grave with his eyes flowing with tears, and he threw dust into her grave. When he left, Umar b. al-Khattab said to him: O Messenger of Allah, I saw you do for this woman something you have not done for anyone. He said: "O Umar, this woman was my mother who gave birth to me. Abu Talib used to prepare food, and he would have a feast, and he would gather us for his food, and this woman would set aside from all of it a share for me, and I would return to it. Jibril ﷺ informed me from my Lord ﷻ that she is among the people of Paradise, and Jibril ﷺ informed me that Allah Almighty commanded seventy thousand angels to pray over her."
