✧ (Poetry) [al-khafif meter]: “Weep, O eye, with tears and wailing, do not tire over the imam, the steadfast. Fate has bereaved us of the knight renowned on the day of battle and rebuke, the protector of the faith and the helper against time, the rain of the distressed and the afflicted. Say to the people of hardship and misery: die, since fate has given us the cup of annihilation.” Atikah also said [al-tawil meter]: “Fayruz bereaved me—may his fortune not flow—of a white one, a follower of the Book, repentant, kind to the near, harsh to the enemies, a brother of trust in calamities, responsive. Whenever he says something, his action does not belie his word, quick to good deeds and not frowning.” “The hadith of al-Thawri is included in the two Sahihs, but I have cited here some phrases with sound chains that are beneficial and rare.”
