✧ A voice was heard at Mount Tabalah when Umar b. al-Khattab was killed, reciting poetry [al-tawil meter]: “Let whoever is weeping weep over Islam, for they are on the verge of destruction and the era has grown old. The world has turned away and its good has turned away, and it has wearied those who were certain of the promise.” They looked, but they saw nothing.
