حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَسَدِيُّ الْحَافِظُ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ زِيَادٍ ثنا غَالِبٌ الْقُرْقُسَانِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ قَالَ
شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِحَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ «هَلْ قُلْتَ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ شَيْئًا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «قُلْ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَ» قَالَ قُلْتُ [البحر البسيط] وَثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ فِي الْغَارِ الْمَنِيفِ وَقَدْ طَافَ الْعَدُوُّ بِهِ إِذْ صَاعَدَ الْجَبَلَا وَكَانَ حِبَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمُوا مِنَ الْخَلَائِقِ لَمْ يَعْدِلْ بِهِ أَحَدَاحذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه

✧ I was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said to Hassan b. Thabit, 'Have you said anything about Abu Bakr?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Say it so that I may hear.' He said: I recited: 'And the second of two in the lofty cave, when the enemy roamed about it as he climbed the mountain. And he was the beloved of the Messenger of Allah, as they knew, among all creatures, no one equaled him.' Al-Dhahabi omitted it from the Talkhis due to its weakness.
