✧ On the day of the conquest of Makkah, 'Abd Allah b. Sa'd b. Abi Sarh hid with 'Uthman b. 'Affan, who brought him and made him stand before the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, accept the pledge of 'Abd Allah. He raised his head and looked at him three times, then he turned to his companions and said: «Was there not among you a righteous man who would stand up to this one when he saw me holding back my hand from his pledge and kill him?» They said: We do not know, O Messenger of Allah, what is in your heart. Could you not have signaled to us with your eye? He said: «It is not fitting for a prophet to have a treacherous eye.»
