✧ On the day of Uḥud, he chanted this poetry: [rajaz meter] "We are the protectors of Ghālib and Mālik; we defend our blessed Messenger. We strike for him today in the battles, striking like the broadswords on the honored steeds." When the Prophet ﷺ returned on the day of Uḥud, he said to Ḥassān: "Speak about Ṭalḥah." Ḥassān composed: [ṭawīl meter] "Ṭalḥah on the day of the mountain pass consoled Muḥammad on a path that was narrow and difficult for him. He protected him with his hands from the spears, and his limbs surrendered beneath the swords and were paralyzed. He was the leader of the people except Muḥammad; he kept the mill of Islam turning until it stood firm." Al-Dhahabī remained silent about it in the Talkhīṣ.
