✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, he gave his sword to his daughter Fāṭimah and said: "My daughter, wash this blood off." ʿAlī gave her his sword and said: "And this, wash its blood off. By Allah, it served me well in fighting today." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you fought well today, Sahl b. Ḥunayf and Simāk b. Kharashah, Abū Dujānah, also fought well with you today." Ibn Isḥāq said: ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib said when he handed the sword to Fāṭimah (peace be upon her): "O Fāṭimah, take the sword, not blameworthy; I am no coward nor base. By my life, I have striven in support of Aḥmad and in pleasing a Lord merciful to His servants." Al-Dhahabī remained silent about it in the Talkhīṣ.
