✧ Saʿd b. Abī Waqqāṣ, when he recited 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' [87:1], would say, {We will make you recite, so you will not forget} [87:6]—he said, "He remembers the Qur'an out of fear of forgetting it." He said: And I heard Saʿd recite {Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten} [2:106]. I said, "But Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib recites 'or cause it to be forgotten'." Saʿd said, "The Qur'an did not descend upon al-Musayyib nor upon the family of al-Musayyib. Allah, Exalted is He, said, {We will make you recite, so you will not forget} [87:6], and He said, {And remember your Lord when you forget} [18:24]."
