أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّيْدَلَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَنْبَأَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ السَّعْدِيُّ ثنا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
«إِنَّ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ لَآيَةً مَا عَمِلَ بِهَا أَحَدٌ وَلَا يَعْمَلُ بِهَا أَحَدٌ بَعْدِي آيَةُ النَّجْوَى» {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ} [المجادلة 12] صَدَقَةً الْآيَةَ قَالَ كَانَ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ فَبِعْتُهُ بِعَشَرَةِ دَرَاهِمَ فَنَاجَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَكُنْتُ كُلَّمَا نَاجَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدَّمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَايَ دِرْهَمًا ثُمَّ نُسِخَتْ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِهَا أَحَدٌ فَنَزَلَتْ {أَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَنْ تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَاتٍ} [المجادلة 13] الْآيَةَ

✧ Indeed, there is a verse in the Book of Allah that no one has ever acted upon and no one after me will ever act upon: the verse of private consultation. {O you who have believed, when you privately consult the Messenger, offer before your private consultation a charity.} [Al-Mujadila 12] He said: I had a dinar, so I sold it for ten dirhams. Then I privately consulted the Prophet ﷺ, and every time I privately consulted the Prophet ﷺ, I offered before my private consultation a dirham. Then it was abrogated, and no one acted upon it, so it was revealed: {Do you fear to offer charities before your private consultation?} [Al-Mujadila 13]
