✧ We used to say: There is no repentance for one who is tested (by falling into sin), and Allah will not accept anything from him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah, the verse was revealed about them: {Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'} [Az-Zumar: 53] and the verses after it. 'Umar said: So I wrote them down, then I sat on my camel, then I went around Madinah, then... The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed in Makkah waiting for Allah to permit him to migrate, and his companions among the emigrants. Abu Bakr stayed waiting for permission to be given to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so that he could leave with him.
