حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ الْقَطَوَانِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيُّ عَنْ عَمِّهِ الْحَارِثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَعْدُ بْنِ عَدْنَانَ بْنِ آدَدَ بْنِ زَنْدِ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ أَعْرَاقِ الثَّرَى» قَالَتْ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَهْلَكَ عَادًا وَثَمُودَ وَأَصْحَابَ الرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ كَثِيرًا لَا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا اللَّهُ» قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ وَأَعْرَاقُ الثَّرَى إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَزَنْدٌ هَمَيْسَعٌ وَبَرَاءٌ نَبْتٌ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Ma'add b. 'Adnan b. Adad b. Zand b. al-Bara' b. A'raq al-Thara.” She said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: “He destroyed 'Ad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between that—none knows them but Allah.” Umm Salamah said: A'raq al-Thara is Ishmael son of Abraham, Zand is Hamaysa', and Bara' is Nabt.

  • «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ» صحيح

    machine translation"This is a ḥadīth with a sound chain (ṣaḥīḥ al-isnād), and they (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) did not narrate it." Authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).
