✧ A man came to him and said, 'O Ibn Abbas, I have something in my soul about the Quran.' He said, 'What is it?' He said, 'Doubt.' He said, 'Woe to you! Have you asked anyone other than me?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'Bring it.' He said, 'I hear Allah saying, "And Allah is ever, over all things, competent" [Al-Ahzab 27]. Was this a matter that has already occurred? And He said, "So no lineage will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask one another" [Al-Mu'minun 101]. But He said in another verse, "And they will approach one another, asking each other" [As-Saffat 27]. Then he mentioned other things. Ibn Abbas said, 'As for His saying, "And Allah is ever, over all things, competent" [Al-Ahzab 27], He has always been and will always be; He is the First and the Last, the Outward and the Inward. As for His saying, "So no lineage will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask one another" [Al-Mu'minun 101], this is at the first blast, when nothing remains on the earth; so no lineage will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask one another. As for His saying, "Then they will approach one another, asking each other" [As-Saffat 50], when they enter Paradise, they will approach one another, asking each other.'"
