أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزَّاهِدُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَابِقٍ ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ ﷻ {الَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ} [المؤمنون 60] أَهُوَ الرَّجُلُ يَزْنِي وَيَسْرِقُ وَيَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ وَهُوَ مَعَ ذَلِكَ يَخَافُ اللَّهَ ﷻ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنَّهُ الرَّجُلُ يَصُومُ وَيُصَلِّي وَيَتَصَدَّقُ وَهُوَ مَعَ ذَلِكَ يَخَافُ اللَّهَ ﷻ»

✧ I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is the person who commits adultery, steals, and drinks alcohol, but still fears Allah Almighty, considered righteous?" He said, "No, but the person who fasts, prays, and gives charity, and still fears Allah Almighty, is considered righteous."
