✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out with a staff in his hand. There were clusters of dates hanging in the mosque, one of which contained bad dates. He poked that cluster and said, “What harm would it do the owner of this if he were to give in charity something better than this? Indeed, the owner of this will eat bad dates on the Day of Resurrection.” Then he said, “By Allah, he will leave it debased for forty years for the ʿawāfī.” Then he said, “Do you know what the ʿawāfī are?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Birds and beasts of prey.”
