حَدَّثَنَا الْحَاكِمُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَافِظُ إِمْلَاءً فِي ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَتِسْعِينَ وَثَلَاثِ مِائَةٍ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ ثنا هَاشِمُ بْنُ يُونُسَ الْعَصَّارُ بِمِصْرَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ثنا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ الرَّقِّيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومِ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْتَ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ فَكَرِهَتْهُ وَكَانَ شَدِيدًا عَلَى النِّسَاءِ فَقَالَتْ لِلزُّبَيْرِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَوِّحْنِي بِتَطْلِيقَةٍ قَالَتْ وَذَلِكَ حِينَ وَجَدَتِ الطَّلْقَ قَالَ وَمَا يَنْفَعُكِ أَنْ أُطَلِّقَكِ تَطْلِيقَةً وَاحِدَةً ثُمَّ أُرَاجِعَكَ؟ قَالَتْ إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي أَسْتَرْوِحُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَطَلَّقَهَا تَطْلِيقَةً وَاحِدَةً ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَقَالَتْ لِجَارِيَتِهَا أَغْلِقِي الْأَبْوَابَ قَالَ فَوَضَعَتْ جَارِيَةً فَقَالَ فَأَتَى الزُّبَيْرُ فَبُشِّرَ بِهَا فَقَالَ مَكَرَتْ بِي ابْنَةُ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ «فَأَبَانَهَا مِنْهُ»

✧ that she was married to al-Zubayr b. al-Awwam, but she disliked him and he was harsh toward women. She said to al-Zubayr: 'O Abu Abd Allah, relieve me with a divorce.' She said that was when she felt labor pains. He said: 'What benefit is it to you if I divorce you one divorce and then take you back?' She said: 'I find myself relieved by that.' He said: 'Then he divorced her one divorce and went out.' She said to her slave girl: 'Close the doors.' She then gave birth to a girl. Al-Zubayr came and was given the good news, and he said: 'The daughter of Abu Mu'ayt deceived me.' Then he went out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him, and he separated her from him.

  • هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيحٌ الْإِسْنَادِ وَأَبُو الْمَلِيحِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ فَغَيْرُ مُتَّهَمٍ بِالْوَضْعِ فَإِنَّهُ إِمَامُ أَهْلِ الْجَزِيرَةِ فِي عَصْرِهِ وَأُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ هِيَ ابْنَةُ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ وَهِيَ الَّتِي يَرْوِي عَنْهَا ابْنُهَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ بِالْكَذَّابِ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ صحيح غريب

    machine translationThis is a gharīb ḥadīth with a sound (ṣaḥīḥ) chain of transmission. As for Abū al-Malīḥ, even though the two (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) did not narrate from him, he is not accused of fabrication, for he was the imām of the people of al-Jazīrah in his time. Umm Kulthūm is the daughter of ʿUqbah b. Abī Muʿayṭ, and she is the one from whom her son Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrates from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "He is not the liar who reconciles between people." Sound (ṣaḥīḥ), gharīb.
