✧ And another [saying] you say about one who is killed in your campaigns or dies: 'So-and-so was killed and he is a martyr,' or 'So-and-so died a martyr,' though perhaps he had loaded the hindquarters of his beast—or he said his mount—with gold or silver seeking trade. So do not say that, but say as the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever is killed in the cause of Allah or dies, he is in Paradise.'

Notes

machine translationThis is a great authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith, and neither of them (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) narrated it, nor did either of them, because of the statement of Salamah b. ʿAlqamah from Ibn Sīrīn that he said: "I was informed from Abū al-ʿAjfāʾ." And I will mention, God willing, in the Book of Marriage what can be used as evidence for its authenticity. Authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).
