✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marched toward Makkah to conquer it, he said to Abu Hurayrah, "Call out to the Ansar." So he said, "O Ansar, respond to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." They came as if they had an appointment. Then he said, "Take this road, and let no one of yours be seen except that you grant him safety." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marched, and Allah granted him its conquest. He circumambulated the House and prayed two rak'ahs, then went out through the gate facing al-Safa. He ascended al-Safa and addressed the people while the Ansar were below him. The Ansar said to one another, "As for the man, compassion for his people and desire for his town have taken hold of him." Allah sent down revelation about what the Ansar said. He said, "O Ansar, you say: 'As for the man, compassion for his people and desire for his town have taken hold of him.'" He said, "Then who am I? No, by Allah, I am truly the servant of Allah and His Messenger. My life is your life, and my death is your death." They said, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we did not say that except out of fear that he might turn away from us." He said, "You are truthful before Allah and His Messenger." He said, "By Allah, there was not one of them but that his chest was wet with tears." And among them: authentic.
