✧ A man clung to a debtor of his for ten dinars and said to him, "By Allah, I have no payment with which to pay you today." He said, "By Allah, I will not part from you until you pay or bring a guarantor who will bear it on your behalf." He said, "By Allah, I have no payment and I cannot find anyone to bear it on my behalf." He said, "So he dragged him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, this is my debtor. I granted him a delay of one month, but he refused unless I pay him or bring him a guarantor.' I said, 'By Allah, I cannot find a guarantor, and I have no payment today.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Will you grant him a delay of only one month?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'Then I will bear it on your behalf.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bore it on his behalf. The man went and brought the amount he had promised. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Where did you obtain this gold?' He said, 'From a mine.' He said, 'Then go, for we have no need of it; there is no good in it.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid it on his behalf.
