حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذٍ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ أَنْبَأَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَارِظٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَحْوَهُ فَلْيَعْلَمْ طَالِبُ هَذَا الْعِلْمِ أَنَّ الْإِسْنَادَيْنِ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَدْ حَكَمَ لِأَحَدِهِمَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ بِالصِّحَّةِ وَحَكَمَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ لِلْآخَرِ بِالصِّحَّةِ فَلَا يُعَلَّلُ أَحَدُهُمَا بِالْآخَرِ وَقَدْ حَكَمَ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ لِحَدِيثِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ بِالصِّحَّةِ

  4. Muʿāwiyah b. Sallām
  5. Yaḥyá b. Abū Kathīr
  6. Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbdullāh b. Qāriẓ
  7. al-Sāʾib b. Yazīd
  8. Rāfiʿ b. Khadīj

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ something similar. The seeker of this knowledge should know that of the two chains from Yahya b. Abi Kathir, one has been ruled authentic by Ahmad b. Hanbal, and the other has been ruled authentic by 'Ali b. al-Madini. Neither is to be deemed defective because of the other, and Ishaq b. Ibrahim al-Hanzali ruled the hadith of Shaddad b. Aws authentic.
