✧ As for the saying of Hammad b. Salama

فَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْعَنَزِيُّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيِّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُمْ شَكَوْا فِي هِلَالِ رَمَضَانَ فَأَرَادُوا

أَنْ لَا يَقُومُوا وَلَا يَصُومُوا فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مِنَ الْحَرَّةِ فَشَهِدَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى الْهِلَالَ «فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِلَالًا أَنْ يَقُومُوا وَيَصُومُوا» قَدِ احْتَجَّ الْبُخَارِيُّ بِأَحَادِيثَ عِكْرِمَةَ وَاحْتَجَّ مُسْلِمٌ بِأَحَادِيثِ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ وَحَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ صَحِيحٌ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ

Translation

✧ They were instructed not to stand (for prayer) and not to fast. Then a bedouin came from al-Harrah and testified that he had seen the crescent. The Prophet ﷺ ordered Bilal to announce that they should stand (for prayer) and fast. Al-Bukhari used the hadiths of 'Ikrimah as evidence, and Muslim used the hadiths of Simak b. Harb and Hammad b. Salama as evidence. This hadith is authentic, but they did not include it.
