أَخْبَرْنَاهُ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَلِيمٍ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو الْمُوَجِّهِ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدَانُ أَنْبَأَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ لَيْلَةَ هِلَالِ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ «أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَنَادَى أَنْ يَصُومُوا»

✧ A bedouin came on the night of the crescent of Ramadan and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have seen the crescent.' He said, 'Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Then he announced that they should fast.'
