حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمُرَادِيُّ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَأَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نُصَيْرٍ الْخُلْدِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ قَالَا ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا دُعِيَ إِلَى جِنَازَةٍ سَأَلَ عَنْهَا فَإِنْ أُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَإِنْ أُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهَا «شَأْنَكُمْ بِهَا» وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهَا

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ was invited to a funeral, he would ask about [the deceased]. If good was said of him, he would pray over him, and if other than that was said of him, he would say to his family: 'Take care of him yourselves,' and he would not pray over him.

  • «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ»
