al-Mustadrak (al-Hakim) 134

✧ As for the saying of Abu Shihab

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمْدُونَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ثنا أَبُو يُوسُفَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقُلُوسِيُّ ثنا شَرِيكُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

«مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسًا مُعَاهَدَةً بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ أَنْ يَشُمَّ رِيحَهَا وَرِيحُهَا يُوجَدُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ خَمْسِمِائَةِ عَامٍ»

Translation

✧ Whoever kills a person under a covenant without its right, Allah has forbidden Paradise to him, that he should smell its fragrance; and its fragrance is found from a distance of five hundred years' journey.
